The Two "Truest" Quotes You Will Hear Today

1. George Stephanopoulos on "Good Morning America" said John McCain was "somewhat prescient" in his response to the Georgia crisis (we'd drop the 'somewhat', but why quibble).

2. Colin Powell telling ABC News that, "I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol's musings."

True.

Of Colin Powell, Barack Obama & Bill Kristol EVER Being Right

Colin Powell is going to endorse Barack Obama! Colin Powell is going to endorse Barack Obama!

Holy sh*t! Holy sh*t!

Well, maybe.

But then again, maybe not.

Go beyond the inflammatory Fox headline and read story graphs 3, 4, 5 & 6:

“This is not an absolute done deal, but these people are very confident that Powell will endorse Obama,” Kristol said, adding that he thinks Powell, a Republican, still has “a high respect” for John McCain, Obama’s Republican rival.

Powell spokeswoman Peggy Cifrino strongly denied the report.

“There’s absolutely no truth to it whatsoever,” Cifrino told FOXNews.com. “Colin Powell will not be at either convention. There’s absolutely no truth to this.”

Roll Call executive editor Mort Kondracke, also a FOX News contributor, said he personally has spoken with Powell, who denied the report and said he has made no endorsement decisions, according to Kondracke.
Hmm.

It looks to us like there is a 98% chance that Bill Kristol doesn't know what hell he is talking about.

Again.

And, if this rumor turns out not to be true, can somebody please explain to us why people still take Bill Kristol seriously?

Please?

Colin Powell Speaks, Governor Buenos Dias Responds?

Colin Powell sits down for an interview in the latest issue of GQ.

Well worth a read. The man is a patriot.

On immigration Powell said:

"America could not survive without immigration," he says. "Even the undocumented immigrants are contributing to our economy. That's the country my parents came to. That's the image we have to portray to the rest of the world: kind, generous, a nation of nations, touched by every nation, and we touch every nation in return. That's what people still want to believe about us. They still want to come here. We've lost a bit of the image, but we haven't lost the reality yet. And we can fix the image by reflecting a welcoming attitude -- and by not taking counsel of our fears and scaring ourselves to death that everybody coming in is going to blow up something. It ain't the case."
To which Romney spokesperson Kevin Madden might have responded:
"Powell is clearly a sissy when it comes to national security issues. Undocumented immigrants aren't fit to cut Governor Romney's lawn. Mitt Romney believes that the only good illegal is a dead illegal that the Governor strangled to death with his own two hands. On Fox And Friends."
And if you think that joke is tasteless, you should read what (most) of the GOP candidates, including Governor Buenos Dias, are really putting out on the subject of immigration.

Nothing like a Party that turns backs the clock in order to try and win elections in the future.
