The End Of Dogma

Steven Thomma writes:

The house that Ronald Reagan built is in danger of collapsing. The coalition of fiscal conservatives, national security conservatives, anti-tax activists and social conservatives that rallied behind Reagan in 1980 and has defined the Republican Party ever since is coming apart at the seams heading into the 2008 election.
We agree. And thank goodness!

And we're speaking as someone who thought Ronald Reagan was a perfectly fine President.

But it's not 1980 (or '84, '88, '92, '96, '00 or '04) anymore. Not even close.

The Republican Party needs to stop looking back to try to see forward.

Instead, they just need to look forward.

And put one foot in front of the other.

Welcome to a brave new world.

Where the only constant is change. As always.

And the Republican Party needs to get back in the game.
