Extra, Extra - Read All About It! MoveOn.org Going Into "Investigative Journalism"!

Wait...

Hold the phone...

Our mistake. It's not MoveOn.org that's going into investigative journalism.

It's ProPublica.

From ProPublica's website:

ProPublica is an independent, non-profit newsroom that will produce investigative journalism in the public interest. Our work will focus exclusively on truly important stories, stories with “moral force.” We will do this by producing journalism that shines a light on exploitation of the weak by the strong and on the failures of those with power to vindicate the trust placed in them.
Hmmm. "Independent".

But isn't Propublica financially backed by Herb Sandler?

Why yes it is. In fact, Herb is the Chairman of the board.

So, it really is like MoveOn.org is going into "investigative journalism"?

Maybe yes. Maybe no.

Time will certainly tell.

Noted: This story was brought to our attention just today, but it looks as though Slate's Jack Shafer was all over this back in October.
