Now THIS Is The McCain We LOVE (and who will play great with the indies in the swing states)

Team McCain is (finally) swinging around to the good stuff in its energy plan (adios offshore drilling?).

Later today, Johnny Mac will propose a $300 million prize for the creation of a electric car that can "leapfrog" existing models.

Serve a cause greater than yourself AND get paid $300 million to do it? Shoooooot, that's got "winning hand" written all over it. 

Of course, the electricity to power the electric car still has to come from "somewhere", but McCain's idea is a good start toward a world without fossil fuels.

And in 2008, at the presidential level, a "good start" ain't half bad.
