John Weaver Talks About John McCain

John Weaver sits down with Salena Zito of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (cross-posted at Townhall.com).

This is (we believe) Weaver's first extended interview since he left McCain's campaign in July.

And Weaver uses the opportunity to talk up McCain's chances.

Best Cobra quote: "People like straight talk when they agree with it. People tend not to like frank and straight talk when they disagree with it... McCain has been as independent as he has ever been. When you look at torture, climate change, Iraq and immigration... three of the four don't necessarily really set well with Republican primary voters."

Which is why running a candidate like John McCain is more complicated than running a panderer like Mitt Romney.

Which is also why Mitt Romney couldn't carry John McCain's jock.

Of course, that's just our humble opinion.
